1st Dan (Shodan)

2nd Dan (Nidan)

3rd Dan (Sandan)

4th Dan (Yondan)

5th Dan (Godan)

6th Dan (Rokudan)

7th Dan (Shichidan)

8th Dan (Hatchidan)

Master Martin Dixon is currently the only 8th Dan in the Association, should he be promoted again by the British Ju Jitsu Association Governing Body (BJJAGB) this will increase.

There is a minimum period between Dan grade examinations.  i.e. There are 2 years between 1st and 2nd Dan, 3 years between 2nd and 3rd Dan, 4 years between 3rd and 4th Dan and so on.
